parent life

Our Parent Ministry is a two-fold ministry. One where we support and minister to the parents. And the other is where we give the parents an opportunity to help us at our events. You may be asking yourself…Isn’t this a “High School Ministry?” Why would we have a ministry for “parents?” Great question! Here’s the answer:

Why Parent Ministry?

The goal of youth ministry is to lead young people closer to Christ. For too long, we feel like we haven’t worked enough with parents (you). But you are, beyond doubt, the most valuable resource and advocate we have for the youth and our ministry! We recognize the importance of you, the parents, in the lives of the Church:

“The role of parents in education is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitute. The right and duty of parents to educate their children are primordial and inalienable.”
-Catechism of the Catholic Church 2221

“”Family Catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. The parish is the Eucharistic community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families; it is a privilege place for the catechesis of children and parents.”  -Catechism of the Catholic Church 2226

This is why we have a ministry to the parents and of the parents. We want to help you, not take your place. We also recognize that if you are going to model Christianity to your family, someone needs to minister to you. You need to be filled and loved and supported. That is our goal with this ministry! To support you and to be supported by you!

Ministry of Support

In order for us, as a ministry, to be able to help you and assist you, we also need your support. We have an amazing group of volunteer leaders, who give of their time and talent to help mentor and guide your teenager in a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. But they can’t do it alone.

That is why 2nd part of the two-fold Parent Life Ministry is a Ministry of Support. It is our hope that you can give some time to be involved in our Program. We need you!

Now you may be wondering what you can do? Below is a list of way you can get involved.

  1. Bringing and serving food at a Life Night
  2. Cooking and serving food at a ROC Luncheon
  3. Driving to events
  4. Staffing our Kitchen on Retreats
  5. Being Chaperons in our Cabins for retreats

If you are interested in helping us in any capacity, please contact Mrs. Jody at parentlife@carencroyouth.org. Thank you!
